Breast Cancer 101

U.K. Actress and singer Bernie Nolan has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Nolan, 49 years old, faces a mastectomy and chemotherapy for treatment - her cancer had already spread to her lymph nodes. In an interview with News of the World, she said:

“I’m going to kick this cancer’s ass. I’m going to see my daughter grow up and I’ll fight it with everything I have.”

Dublin-born, Nolan played Sgt Sheelagh Murphy in The Bill after shooting to fame with her sisters in the pop band the Nolans. She is the third Nolan sister to get breast cancer, both Anne and Linda Nolan were previously diagnosed and beat the disease.
